Faith House Africa
  • Welcome to Faith House

Faith House is a safe house, a shelter, a home, so much more than a building. We're a Christian ministry designed to be family for African young women without peaceful home situations. Faith House provides opportunities for education and training for these young women who might otherwise be struggling to survive. Our hope is that they will gain the skills become self-sufficient contributors to the welfare of their families, their communities, their country and their world.

Faith House Stories

Volunteering in Rwanda »

Teresa is one of our most recent high school graduates, finishing her KCSE exams in November, 2013. She is bright, articulate and very capable. Her dream is to go to medical school and to become a surgeon. In the spring, after she completed a course in basic computers, and while she waited for her university applications to be processed, Gretchen asked her to find a place to volunteer. »

Mary Reeve and her treasured Faith House students. A Life-Changing Experience »

Mary Reeve is the wife of Faith House board member Bill Reeve and truly our biggest fan. She met many of our senior students more than eight years ago, while volunteering as a nurse in a Rafiki Foundation medical clinic. Mary has always been an inspiration in the lives of the Faith House girls. We’re thrilled to have Mary share the photos and experiences from her family’s recent trip to »

A Christmas Celebration »

Because so many of our students go upcountry to visit family during the holiday, the Faith House family usually plans its holiday festivities for early December. For Faith House, Christmas is a time of developing traditions, sharing fellowship with each other, and reaching out to say thanks »

A Day at Faith House »

Resourceful »

Noah was dirty. Road construction on the main route between Faith House and Village Market had left a coating of fine red dust covering the van from top to bottom. A cry for help screamed from Noah’s back window: “WASH ME!” But water in the Faith House neighborhood was precious. The main water supply had been off and on for the past few weeks. The house storage tank had been drained »

Not Easily Discouraged »

When I first met Jane Mwihaki, she was applying for a place at Rafiki Girls’ Center. I asked her to tell me something special about herself that would help me remember her. Few of the girls could answer that question. Jane’s immediate response: “I am not easily discouraged.” Jane has faced family tragedies and overwhelming disappointments in her life, and yet her sweet smile »
